TELKWA MULTI-SPORT OUTDOOR COURTS
We are excited to announce a partnership with the Bulkley Valley Racquet Sports Society (“BVRSS”) that has allowed our two Societies to collaborate on a project located in Telkwa, BC at the Telkwa BBQ Grounds. The Village of Telkwa council approved the project on November 28, 2023 for BVYSF and BVRSS to fundraise and apply for grants for the multi-sport outdoor courts which will consist of removing and resurfacing the current tennis courts to include: 4 to 8 pickleball courts, 2-tennis courts, and 2 x 1/2 basketball shared on one of the tennis courts.
This project will provide the Bulkley Valley with a community-minded recreation facility for all ages, ethnicities, genders and abilities. Once completed, the courts will be available to the public to access free-of-charge.
The estimated costs of the project is close to $400,000 with an original goal of completing the project in the Fall of 2024, but has been delayed until summer 2025. Donor drives, fundraising and grant applications were successful throughout 2024, but if you are hoping to support this project please check out our donor page.

financial aid for young athletes
We have financial aid available to support our mission in providing opportunities for young athletes to experience and advance through single or multiple sport organizations in the Bulkley Valley. Since 2021, BVYSF has funded over $39,300 to more than 57 local youth to help them participate in sport and recreation!
Financial aid will be issued in the form of grants to qualifying youth. Once the completed grant application is received and approved by BVYSF, applicants will be contacted.
Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns with the application form or process, we look forward to hearing from you!
try it programs
Are you worried about signing your children up for a sport that they may not actually enjoy? Utilize our ‘Try It’ programs, which will allow your young athletes to sample a sport over a limited number of sessions, all expenses covered by BVYSF. This will help you to be sure that your child has the confidence and interest to commit to a sport for a full structured season.
‘Try It’ program sports will be chosen based on season, interest, and funding. Upcoming ‘Try It’ programs will be posted on our website, alongside registration dates and contact information to keep you informed on these great opportunities.
community tournaments
BVYSF will be hosting day-long tournaments in various sports throughout the year. These days will focus on promoting healthy, active lifestyle for all youth, whether they are currently involved in an organized sport or just looking to have some fun playing with other youth from the community!
bulkley valley clubs day
These past events have provided youth with the opportunity to chat with the various local sport organizers regarding season length, cost, and commitment. BVYSF has been there to provide information about various programs and funding opportunities for your young athletes.
We have hosted two of these events in September 2022 and 2023 but have postponed future events.
